We highly recommend joining the National Trust if you intend to tour around the UK. Camping in the UK
Camping in the UK and Europe is pretty easy although not always cheap! Like anywhere though, please remember that local laws do apply and any violations are your responsibility. You can often park and sleep just off the highway, but there are an abundance of great caravan parks and camping grounds in the UK and Europe offering fantastic facilities in truly beautiful locations at minimal cost.
All of our campers come with a Camping Guide to make life easier as well. You can make a head start on planning your trip and fortunately there are plenty resources you can use.
You can click on the link below to see regional camping sites throughout the UK and Ireland with reviews and descriptions. There is also a list of places that you can stay at for free as well: http://www.thehappycampers.co.uk/campsites/
Another excellent site guide which allows you to choose campsites from an easy to use map and also gives impartial reviews is: www.ukcampsite.co.uk
Also check out the below site, where you can read about other people’s experiences and also add your own. This is a great way to hear about some great sites that you might not otherwise find: http://www.camperstar.com
Camping in Europe
Camping in Europe is fantastic, and ferries are easy and inexpensive with literally hundreds of crossings from the South Coast Ports daily by numerous ferry operators. Our favourite is Brittany ferries, who also run an excellent service direct to Spain. http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk.
Superbly equipped reasonably priced sites abound and wild camping is easy and free! There are heaps of great spots to see and camping sites are located around all the major cities, so rather than having to drive into Paris or Rome for instance, you can just park up and take public transport. In France for example almost every town and village has a well signed municipal camping site with excellent facilities that cost very little.
From 1st July 2012 it is Law to carry a disposable Breathalyser Test Kit in France. This is available in the onboard shop on any of the cross channel ferries. We also have some kits available on request. They are also available at branches of Halfords in the UK.
The facilities in these campsites are often outstanding. Europeans love to camp, although their idea of roughing it isn’t quite the same as other places you may have been. Campsites are often equipped with facilities ranging from heated pools, games rooms, restaurants and children’s play areas/childcare. Don’t forget we are only 35 minutes from the Liverpool-Dublin Ferry, so exploring Ireland couldn’t be easier!
